We are pleased to invite you to the finale of the exhibition ‘Amra Shobhai Aikhaney – We Are Here’ on
Saturday, 29th April 2023, 3 – 4.30 pm at the Arts Centre Washington, Biddick Ln, Washington NE38
8AB.

The event planned for Thursday, 27th April has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
This exhibition brings a unique perspective on women’s art in contemporary times – including the current
war in Ukraine. Artists from different nationalities and cultures are represented here, providing visibility
to a truly diverse feminist expression. Curated by Sunderland Women’s Art Group and the guest artist
Lena Archbold, this exhibition is a creative response to the ethos of friendship, care, diversity, resilience
and cultural activism that informs Sangini’s work as well as create a ‘space’ that is diverse, welcoming and
inspiring.

Our final presentation is a beautiful performance by Payal Ramchandani.
Payal Ramchandani will be presenting a Kuchipudi (South Indian classical dance) performance that'll
bring forth the feminine strength in all its glory as seen in Indian mythology. She will engage the
audience through different shades of womanhood through characters that echo strength, choice,
wisdom and emotional vulnerability.
