Srijoni - A wellbeing support group for Bangladeshi women in Tyne & Wear

Srijoni – (meaning – Creative in Bengali)

A wellbeing support group for Bangladeshi women in Tyne & Wear

Providing multi-lingual support, we have been able to support women from communities in the Tyne & Wear, particularly Bangladeshi women, most disproportionately affected by Covid19. Women have come together to socialise, learn new skills and benefit from a virtual space where they can share, talk and gain knowledge about wellbeing.

Srijoni – meaning ‘Creative’ in Bengali was set up in 2005 by Asma Begum.

With the help of Sangini, Asma revived the group during the pandemic. The group now has more than 35 women who regularly attend our weekly arts and crafts sessions, Chai and Chat, and luncheon service.
